Oak Creek Fire Protection District Improves its ISO rating
FOR IMMIDIATE RELEASE - 9/6/2023
Oak Creek, Colorado — The Insurance Services Office (ISO) recently announced that the Oak Creek Fire Protection District improved in its overall rating from a Class 4/4x department to a Class 3/3x, effective December 1 2023.
The classification by ISO, known as the Public Protection Classification (PPC™) program, assesses the fire-protection efforts in more than 47,500 communities in the United States. By classifying communities’ ability to suppress fires, ISO helps the communities evaluate their public fire-protection services. Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area’s fire-suppression program doesn’t meet ISO’s minimum criteria.
“We have worked extremely hard over the last couple of years to improve our ISO rating,” said Brady Glauthier, fire chief for Oak Creek Fire Protection District. “This is not only good for our organization, but extremely beneficial for the residence and businesses in our fire district. The better rating will help everyone in the district with insurance and associated premiums.”
When rating a fire department, ISO analyzes the relevant data on three major components of fire suppression: fire department, emergency communications, and water supply. In addition, ISO recognizes community efforts to reduce losses through fire prevention, public fire safety education, and fire investigation.
The new score puts Oak Creek Fire Protection District in the top 33% of fire departments in Colorado and the top 17% in the United States.
